Hives

I went to sleep last night hoping that Kylie's rash would be all better this morning. Instead, it was much worse. I took her to the pediatrician who told me that it was hives. Apparently Kylie has broken out in hives as her body tries to fight some unknown virus or infection. She's not contagious. But the poor darling has hives on her arms, hands, stomach, back, legs, feet. And worse, all over her face and neck. This afternoon, her right eye was almost swollen shut.

It could be gone in a few days. Or the hives may continue to break out in waves for the next few weeks.

Should make for some interesting birthday pictures.

I'm glad that it isn't food related or contact related. But I have to tell you my heart aches that she might be like this for her birthday on Thursday or her party on Saturday.

She's bearing it pretty well. She's tired of me looking at her body rather than her face--she's pulling down her shirt and pants when I pull them up to get a peek (around 100 times today!). She's tiring more quickly so she actually got an extra nap in today.

Please hold her in your thoughts and prayers.

Seems kinda ludicrous to post a scrapbook page in light of Kylie's health.... but here you go. I have to tell you, when I've had a chaotic day, it helps to concentrate on that 12x12 scrapbook page on my computer. It gives me some illusion of control, I guess. It's a bit busy for my taste but I learned a lot doing the lesson. Details are here.

I'm so sorry you are all going through this, right before her birthday too :( At least you'll laugh about it - in time.

In other news, we've got birthday prep going on here, so I may not be around for the next few days. I hope Kylie has a happy, HEALTHY birthday! I can't wait to hear about all the excitement!

Poor Kylie! Chicka is sick with a nasty cold and so am I. Just praying that we'll be much better by Saturday (her bday).

Will be thinking about you and Kylie.

Sorry about the hives but I bet they clear before Saturday. I'll pray that they do. It does suck as we've experienced something similar when Riley had Roseola and had a rash everywhere. It's lousy but it does clear up.

Love the scrapbook page!

Sorry to hear about the rash. I hope she is feeling much better soon and the Birthday gala goes off without a hitch! I can't believe I have been following this blog a year already. I love to watch her grow and to see the love the two of you have for your sweet little Kylie. I also love the scrapbook pages. I wish I knew more about digital scrapbooking.
Hang in there, the hives will be gone before you know it!

That sucks. One year two of my girls had the Chicken Pox for Christmas. Halsey was only 6 months old and COVERED in pox. They were both miserable and we couldn't leave the house for days and days. It was hellish.

She'll still have a happy birthday!

You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. As a child I had "mystery" hives a few times, which I outgrew. If it is any consolation I remember it looked a lot worse than I felt. She is such a beautiful baby and you are so special to share her first year with all of us. I pray you all have a wonderful first birthday!! Lisa

I'm so sorry that you are having to battle this right now, especially so close to Kylie's birthday. Hopefully they will go away soon.

Thinking positive thoughts and sending hugs your way.

Oh no!! I was so paranoid that something would happen to M or J right before their birthday so I totally understand your worry.

At least it doesn't sound like she's too bothered by it. did they give her anything to make it better??

I love the page! Very cool!

I'm sorry about Kylie's hives. Andrew had something a few months ago that the pediatrician told us was related to a virus of some kind. He hasn't had anything since, so I guess it was a one time thing (knocking on wood)

Hope she has an awesome birthday!

Wow, poor Kylie :( I'm so, so sorry for her and her hives. That sounds awful. Sounds like you're doing a great job of taking care of her and helping her feel better. I hope they clear up quickly and in time for her birthday and party!

Oh, I'm so sorry for poor little Kylie. It just breaks my heart to hear of a baby in distress. We just took Maddie to the pediatrician today to have them look at a rash that she's had for about a week and they said it was eczema. I feel so badly for her with it just on her chest and neck, I can't imagine how you must feel with it covering her whole body. My hopes are with you that this goes away quickly!

I hope Kylie gets better before her first birthday! Poor baby.

I love this page. And I liked your Starbucks page too. It's good when a little "mom" is interjected into the scrapbook and I know that Kylie will enjoy that one day too!

As always, thanks for sharing your family, your talent and yourself with us. :-)
