Bed & stairs progress

Well we are three days into life with Kylie's new bed and we are doing great. So far, Kylie alternates between putting every possible stuffed animal, soft book, blanket and pillow into her bed.

or throwing everything out onto the floor, even her pillow, and leaving in only her beloved bouncing Tigger.

When we've walked into her room in the morning or after naps, she's been in her bed but a couple of things have been moved about. She's so quiet about it that we aren't sure if she's getting out of the bed before she goes to sleep or when she first wakes up. Anyway, so far so good.

We also took down the gate at the bottom of our stairs so that Kylie could begin to learn how to climb them. We're trying to find our way around giving her the freedom to explore the stairs but we also want her to follow our directions when we tell her to come down. Kylie came dangerously close to her first time-out today. I sat her down and gave her a warning about following my directions. The expression on her face was priceless. It was a mixture of upset and defiance with a big old pouty lip. Only time will tell if we've taken the gate down too soon.

Anyway, the first day we took the gate down, Kylie celebrated by lining up books, animals, toys and such all around her. Precious!

Kylie's had a cold this weekend and unfortunately I've caught it too. So I'll sign off now with a few more pictures.

She really is such a beautiful little girl :) She melts my heart.

good call on the gate... my daughter was about that same age when she started climbing up and down.... now she can go up and down the stairs at her own will and even plays quietly in her room by herself.... She's very well behaved and never gets herself into trouble. :) Goes to show what a good discipline plan can do! :)

Love those pictures! The jeans are too adorable--she looks like such a little kid those jeans.

Glad the bed is working out! We haven't gotten to that transition yet.

The stairs will be fun. We took our baby gate off ages ago. I think when Riley was 1 because it was just annoying for us. Now she has them mastered but we still tell her not to go up or down them without us there. She doesn't listen.

ahh, the fun of the stairs. We've been practicing, too- K is pretty good w/them and hanging onto the railing- but I still have my heart in my throat- sooo scary to let them try things, but they have to learn.

I'm so happy to see the bed is going well. We are going to start that transition soon(w/a baby coming, we'll need to!!!!!!!!) and wonder if you have any tips you did w/Kylie to get her into it - does she stay ?? no issues??

Keifer naps on a mat at daycare w/the other kids NO PROBLEMS but I'm worried that she'll get out of her bed at home, etc....you know?

I LOVE the photos, keep them coming! You know I love that one on the stairs.

Does that Tigger actually bounce?! OMG I think Thaya would pass out from joy if she saw such a thing. Must. Search. Amazon...

We're at about day 4 or 5 of big girl bed, and are having the same success. I hope it keeps up for you!

Love the new shoes :)

Love the photos of Kylies cute little bum! I especially love the photos with Karen and Kylie - you can see that Karen just beams with love for that lil gal.

We're working on the crib/toddler bed transition also. We've had the gates off the stairs and so far, so good.

hey i keep thinking about so i came back to comment. i wouldn't let her play with a clorox wipe. they are full of chemicals and are quite toxic. i'm not saying you have to switch to green cleaners (although you might find that you like them as they work well and don't smell harsh). but having her handle it means she's touching it directly and getting everything on her skin. here's some info on what's in the wipes:

http://www.health-report.co.uk/toxic_household_chemicals.htm

ie. "Clorox Disinfecting Wipes lists two ingredients: dimethyl benzyl ammonia chloride .145 per cent and dimethyl ethyl benzyl ammonia chloride. Again, more pesticides."

Hi Skichik79,
Thanks for stopping by our blog and for the compliment!

I shoot with a Nikon D50. I keep a Macro lens on the camera most of the time because I like to shoot close to Kylie. I have to say that I'm more skilled at Photoshop than I am with my camera. Most of the pictures you see here have been tweaked a bit in Camera Raw and/or Photoshop. I mostly use it to boost the color a bit or to remove a color cast caused by being indoors and using a flash. And there are sooooo many pictures that end up in the trash.

I love taking pictures of Kylie. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the moment; enjoy the "now". I hope you enjoy your new Nikon and have lots of fun with it.

Warmly,
Wendy

No problem. Just thought I'd share since we learned a lot about chemicals at our prenatal class with Riley. Stuff we had no clue about. Scary stuff.
