Elephants, penguins and dresses

On August 23rd at the Oregon Zoo a baby elephant was born. His name is Samudra and he has been a huge hit at the zoo. Kylie and I made an impromptu visit to the zoo on Saturday and actually got to see him for the first time. It was an overcast day and the zoo wasn't as busy as usual but there was still a large crowd gathered around the viewing area. I had to stand on my tiptoes to see Samudra just as he was walking into his barn. Unfortunately Kylie didn't get to see him because I couldn't lift her up fast enough but she was tickled to see the other elephants. And she thought this baby elephant statue was fun too.

We saw the penguins for the first time. They made a big impression on Kylie.

Later, as I was sifting through all the Halloween photos, Karen and Kylie were playing together. Their laughter was so contagious I had to join them.

On Sunday, we went to Mateo's birthday party. Happy Birthday Mateo! And for my dad, who commented that he wanted to see more pictures of Kylie in a dress, these are for you.

Great pictures! And adorable, as always :) Zoos are such fun for little ones. We don't have a great one here in Ottawa, but whenever we visit Toronto we like to go see the animals.
