May I proudly present our Halloween Poodle!
We dressed Kylie in her poodle outfit around 2:00pm and oohed and aahed over her. She seemed pretty happy to wear it.
We walked up and down the street so that I could get some pictures of her while the sun was temporarily shining. At first, she didn't understand the concept of the trick-or-treat basket. She thought I had given her a bucket to collect leaves.
And she thought it would be fun to rub our tree with a Clorox wipe.
I love that I caught this moment. It was like Kylie was saying, "Why did Mommy have me walk down the street only to turn me around and tell me to walk back?" And Karen was saying, "I don't know why but it is easier to just play along with Mommy."
And then we were off to our Gymboree Halloween party. There were about 15 kids there in all sorts of costumes. Kylie got to see all manner of critters and superheros and princesses. (You've got to wonder what the little ones are thinking about all of this).
Playing at Gymboree.
They had an art activity followed by a small snack for the kiddos. Thank heavens I put Kylie in this short-sleeved romper under her outfit. She was roasting in her costume. So for art time, we took the costume off. The art project was supposed to be her two handprints in black paint which made a bat. Well, you can see what we ended up with. "Mommy, what is this supposed to be?"
The Gymboree staff gave us a snack of some pretzels and an oreo cookie and apple juice. This is the first time Kylie had an oreo. Also in this picture, you can also really see the scratch by her left eye. On Wednesday, Kylie fell on the sidewalk and unfortunately, her face caught part of her fall. Kylie really liked her oreo!
And then it was back to the Gymboree playroom for more fun.
Back at the house, we had dinner and then it was time for some real trick-or-treating at a few neighbors' houses.
Momma, that man put something in my bucket. What was it?
A Hershey bar!
She managed to gnaw her way into the candybar and lick out some chocolate on the walk home before we noticed.
But the exertions of the day took their toll and she was sound asleep in bed at her normal time of 6pm. Karen and I hung out on our front porch giving away Skittles (love those rainbow colors! ha!) until 8pm. It was a fantastic Halloween. We are both looking forward to the next Halloween.
Note: there are even MORE Halloween pictures on our Flickr site.
