I've never been one to use the handicap bathroom stalls in public places. To me, they were like handicapped parking spaces. I leave them open and available for the people who really need them.
But lately I've been giving myself permission to go in there. And I've got to tell you... I love the extra room and the handrails. I love that I can use the handrails to heft myself up.
But I'm jumpy when I'm in there. I'm afraid when I open the bathroom door there will be some bathroom police person writing me up a citation. Or that other women who might be waiting for a stall will stare me down, shake their heads and make that tsk tsk sound under their breath.
Hmm.... I don't think Freud covered this one.

Go for it! Now is the one time in your life you can feel slightly okay with using the handicap stalls. Think of it this way, you're in an awkward stage and this helps keep you and Kylie that much safer!
I say "Get used to it!" Just wait until you are driving a big ol' bulky stroller with a (finally sleeping) baby in it and you have to pee. Guess which stall is big enough for the stroller? And it's not like you can leave your baby outside, parked against the wall in the bathroom.
Oh! And guess where places are starting to locate their baby changing station? Yep - in the big stall.
So I say the big stalls are for whomever needs them. And as a pregnant woman, you deserve the extra space to turn around. Regular sized stalls start feeling waaaay too small when you are carrying an almost full-term baby in you. :)
You're perfectly entitled to use that stall, and you will have to later when you have a baby and then a toddler to try to wrestle while you're trying to pee!
I loved the hand rails too. They are great! Don't feel guilty. I doubt there's this huge line of handicapped people waiting to use that one stall.
I agree with all these women... no reason to feel bad at all!
Thanks so much for the snoopy link. That made me smile! Also wanted to tell you that you and Karen looked beautiful in the pics of your shower...positively glowing you were!
I wouldn't feel bad at all. If someone were to give you a funny look at this point, they would be the weird one. And, like the others have said, you will always be using the handicapped stall when you have Kylie with you...either to change her or so you can have her with you. Have a baby gives you your own sort of "handicap".
Another handicapped "item" that you will learn to love is the automatic door opening button. You will curse the doors without them when you are trying to manage your stroller and all of your gear while trying to open the door at the same time. I *heart* those blue buttons.
I agree! Go for it.
But just don't knock over a little old lady in a walker to beat her to it if you can avoid it!
PREGNANT WOMEN ARE NOT HANDICAPPED YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD USING THE HANDICAPPED STALL YOU CHOSE TO BE PREGNANT HANDICAPPED PEOPLE DON'T CHOSE TO BE HANDICAPPED!!!!!!!!
