Five things about art

1. While fingerpainting, Kylie rubs her hands together to distribute the paint and then pats her hands on the paper to see her handprints. She's getting more interested in how the paper looks as she paints rather than just how the paint feels on her hands.

2. She loves her play-doh. She pulls it apart, squishes it in her hands and pokes her fingers into the play-doh balls I make her. She asks for play-doh at least once a day if not 3-4 times.

3. Kylie points her index fingers and rubs them back and forth over her chest while asking "color?" I love that she made up her own sign language sign. Kylie loves to examine all the crayons in the small box. If I ask her to color, she usually will pick a yellow or beige crayon. And she lightly presses the crayon to the paper so she's hardly making any marks. Mostly "coloring" is a chance for her to examine and play with the crayons and look at her coloring book pictures.

4. Stickers. Kylie and Karen created a sticker ritual. After her second breakfast and before her nap, Kylie will visit Momma K in her office and get her two stickers (always two...never one or three). She wears them proudly on her hands.

5. Kylie knows that all the art supplies are kept in the hallway desk. She pulls it open many times a day and asks to be lifted up so that she can pick something out.
