Book list from 2010

47 books in 2010. I didn't have a book-reading goal for 2010 but I was a little surprised that this number wasn't at least 50. My blogging friend Soupy read 80 books for goodness sake! Check out her list; she has some awesome reads listed.

This year was the year of the memoirs!

Weight Loss Memoirs
Secrets of a Former Fat Girl by Delaney, Lisa
Fat Chance: Losing the Weight, Gaining My Worth by Hadden, Julie
Winning by Losing: Drop the Weight, Change Your Life by Michaels, Jillian
Believe It, Be It by Vincent, Ali

Running Memoirs
Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner by Karnazes, Dean
50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days -- and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance! by Karnazes, Dean
First Marathons by Kislevitz, Gail
Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving and Not Lose Your Job, Family, or Sanity by Shea and McDowell

Memoirs
The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance: A Memoir by Baker, Elna
Eat, Pray, Love by Gilbert, Elizabeth
Committed by Gilbert, Elizabeth
(I was one of the few folks who actually liked Committed more than Eat, Pray, Love)
Bitter Is the New Black by Lancaster, Jen
Such a Pretty Fat by Lancaster, Jen
My Fair Lazy by Lancaster, Jen
(Jen Lancaster makes me laugh out loud. Karen's used to me snorting and chuckling as we lay in bed reading together when I'm reading one of her books)
Cleaving by Powell, Julie

Fiction
The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Allen, Sarah Addison
Bitten by Armstrong, Kelley
Destiny Kills by Arthur, Keri
Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by C. Alan Bradley
Burned by Cast, P. C.; Kristin Cast
The Hunger Games by Collins, Suzanne
Catching Fire by Collins, Suzanne
Mockingjay by Collins, Suzanne
(This was a fantastic series. One of my best reads of the year.)
Matched by Condie, Ally
The Passage by Cronin, Justin
Maybe This Time by Crusie, Jennifer
Bet Me by Crusie, Jennifer
Strange Bedpersons by Crusie, Jennifer
Charlie All Night by Crusie, Jennifer
Mommy Tracked by Gaskell, Whitney
Good Luck by Gaskell, Whitney
True Love and other Lies by Gaskell, Whitney
When You Least Expect It by Gaskell, Whitney
(J Cruise and Wh Gaskell are easy, chick-lit reads--when you just want lovely entertainment.)
Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen by Gilmore, Susan Gregg
Magic Hour by Hannah, Kristin
Dead in the Family by Harris, Charlaine
(I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books--way before they became a TV series. I've been a Kindle reader since June 2008. This book was the first one I paid more than $9.99. An honor I thought should belong to my beloved Stephen King instead of Charlaine Harris- no matter how much I love her books.)
Under the Dome by King, Stephen
(Love him, Love him, Love him--my favorite book of the year.)
Blockade Billy by King, Stephen
Full Dark No Stars by King, Stephen
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Meyer, Stephenie
Eclipse by Meyer, Stephenie --re-read
Breaking Dawn by Meyer, Stephenie--re-read
Storm Glass by Snyder, Maria V.
Still Missing by Stevens, Chevy
(Recommended by Soupy, this one kept me on the edge of my seat rooting for the heroine.)

Photography
The Photographer's Eye by Freeman, Michael
Within the Frame by DuChemin, David

Parenting
Taming the Spirited Child: Strategies for Parenting Challenging Children Without Breaking Their Spirits Popkin, Michael

Audiobooks
Firefly Lane by Hannah, Kristin
Immoral by Freeman, Brian
Remember When Robb, J. D.; Nora Roberts

I adore the "Eve Dallas" audiobooks by JD Robb. I give them my highest recommendation, either in print or on audiobooks. I was pleased to find out I had missed some of the earlier books. Plus I listened to the new ones as soon as they were released. Here's what I heard/read in 2010.

Promises in Death, Kindred in Death, Haunted in Death, Ritual in Death, Missing in Death, Eternity in Death, Midnight in Death, Interlude in Death, Fantasy in Death, Possession in Death, Indulgence in Death
If you decide to read the stories, I recommend reading them in order. They do build upon one another. You can find the in-order list here.

I hope you find some book inspiration here. Happy Reading Everyone!

What a great idea ... I read SO much, but never thought to actually keep a list to review at year's end. I love it! =)

I have read many of the ones on your list as well, so think perhaps I'll have to check out the others I haven't read. Great taste!

Love your choice of books for the year!
If I may ask, what are some of the lessons you learned from "Taming the Spirited Child"?

Hi Kira,
I did a very brief review of the book in this August post:

love the list! Have you read "room" or "the blue nowhere" yet? Very different but great reads! Your working out is very inspiring!

oh, and what did YOU think of "the Passage?"

me, I loved it, as did 2 of my friends. But I can see it isn't for "everyone" - cannot wait for the next one and also - Brad pitt's company bought movie rights for it- I can totally envision it as a movie. ALSO- Entertainment weekly has an article this week on "Hunger games" as a movie!!! :) YAY!
