Proud

It's amazing what a little sleep and making a list will do!

Last night I made a list of some of the things I want/need to do. I realized that some of the anger I was feeling was due to feeling out of control and list-making helps put it all into perspective for me. So...feeling better now.

We took Kylie out and I ended up changing two diapers and one outfit during the excursion. I was proud of myself for managing that small task without a flicker of nerves. It's a small success but I'm going to celebrate it!

By the way, Kylie has a case of baby acne (at least it looks more like acne than a rash) all over her face. Our friend, Heather, recommended putting mits on Kylie's hands to help the acne because she tends to rub her face and hair alot. We're going to give that a try.

Does anyone else have any recommendations for dealing with baby acne?

Here's a photo of our girl. If you look closely you can see one of her dimples!

Oh, the dimple is adorable! Jackson has one too when he smiles but it's not as big as Kylie's.
I'm glad making a list helped out. I'll have to keep that in mind. Although my list is the same thing over and over...feed babies, do dishes, do laundry, shower occasionally, brush teeth, and maybe eat something.
Jackson has acne too...it's the little whiteheads under the skin. He has them on his shoulders back and chest too. I have shown much restraint to not pick them out. I haven't looked into doing anything about them...I just figured they'd go away eventually.

M had quite a case of baby acne and our doc and others basically told us that it would eventually go away on its own...and it did. We did realize at some point that his shampoo was irritating his face and switched to a more gentle brand plus fewer baths. That made a big difference, but I'm not sure it had much do to with the acne in the first couple of months.

I wholeheartedly agree with the power of a list! Glad to hear you're feeling a little bit better :)

Glad you're feeling better!

2 diaper changes while being out is pretty good. We tend to do more using cloth because Riley hates being wet. :P I love changing a baby on my lap in the car. Not!

Riley had some baby acne early on and still gets a bit from time to time. It'll go away. I just washed her face with a warm wash cloth and that's about it.

Ooo, I never thought about making lists - great idea!

Sorry to hear about the acne. Unfortunately not much helps other than time. That's the official advice, anyhow. I wash Lil K's forehead with a mild soap but it's not recommended because it can irritate the skin or get in the baby's eyes.

Our little ones had baby acne and it went away with time. We just washed with a cloth like Stacey said. Glad you are feeling better. The first few months are magical, but just really hard too! I think that's why babies are so cute to keep you going. And Kylie is extra cute of course.

I am SO into lists. It really helps me gain perspective and feel a lot more in control. I can relate!

In regards to the achne... don't wash her face too much... if you clean off all the oils, her body will produce more and just make it worse. Thaya has it... I wipe her face clean after spit-ups with a slightly damp cloth... and then maybe once a week we'll do a "good" clean with some warm water and a baby wash cloth :)

I'll echo everyone else that baby acne is completely normal and goes away on its own. It usually surfaces betwee 4-7 weeks as the mothers hormones are lessening in the baby. Here's a link to Dr. Greene's website write up on it:

She is beautiful and those dimples - oh my goodness!!! :) Glad you are feeling better today. I found the early months to be challenging in a way I never expected but with time and routine, I found my way. Hang in there!

AHHHH! I love the dimple!!
She's still adorable, acne or no acne.
Andrew got some here and there but we just waited it out.
Glad you are feeling better! Lists always help!

She really is one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen!

your little person is so lovely! just a lurker and a doula adding her two cents on the acne: it's actually caused by hormones (same as teenage acne!), so putting mitts on her hands probably won't help too much.

She's so darn adorable.

Bug has a touch of acne too. From everything I've read, it'll clear up on its own. I did cut her nails yesterday though so hopefully that'll help cause sometimes she scratches herself and it looks worse than it is.
