New ways to play

Blankets over babies.
I have 3 or 4 lap-sized blankets that I keep in a small bin in Kylie's closet. One day after she pulled them out, I suggested that we tuck her dolls (aka babies) under the blanket. Kylie's eyes got very round and I knew that this was going to be a hit. Now, she won't let a morning go by without tucking in her stuffed animals and dolls. She loves it when I say, "Snug as a bug in a rug" as we tuck them in.

Bang & shake & freeze
Kylie is starting to really enjoy one of Gymboree's signature activities- banging on the air log. The banging is done to The Freeze song which is on the Kids in Motion cd. The kids bang with their hands or shakers until the song says, "Freeze!". When they hear that word, they are supposed to stop and put their hands on their heads. If you want a closer look, you can check out this You Tube video. This isn't Kylie's class but it illustrates the exercise well. Anyway, we've started doing the Freeze song at home and Kylie just loves it.

Cars
This month, she's started playing with cars. A couple of matchbox cars and two pieces of track will occupy her for a while.

As will this car track.

And she loves sitting down and slowly lowering herself until she's lying down. She'll do this almost anywhere- carpet, grass, sidewalk, anywhere!

It cracks her up to look up at the sky. The fact that I tickle her almost every time she lies down may also have something to do with it.

This is hardly a new way to play. She's been playing with rocks since she could crawl. But this picture was too cute not to post.

And here is my favorite way to play--scrapbook pages.
Outside.

Vivid.

Thanks.

I love the pictures and your creative pages!

She is just adorable. Isn't it just amazing to watch them play and use their own instincts and imaginations?!!? I love this age!

You have such an adorable daughter, I love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful child. I found your blog from reading my nieces.

What fun! Lil'K is obsessed with his cars right now. Brio/wooden trains are also a huge hit.
